Francis Parker School is thrilled to announce San Diego’s first ever Pollyanna Conference entitled “Building & Sustaining a Diverse School Community that Reflects the Student Experience”. The Pollyanna Conference is scheduled for Saturday, February 2, 2019, and we are hoping members of your team might consider attending. This conference is structured a bit differently in that each school will be represented as a school POD consisting of 14 individuals who play a role in advancing the diversity work at your school. Each school POD will include two members from each of the following constituency groups: Administration Alumni Diversity Leadership Faculty Parents Students (grades 8-12) Trustees The goal of the conference is to engage a broad and diverse community of educational leaders whose perspectives and experiences will bolster our collective efforts to identify best practices and real-world strategies to support our students living and leading in a diverse and global society. The one-day conference will open with a special keynote speaker, with the balance of the morning dedicated to individually-facilitated workshops (broken down by constituency). The afternoon includes a student presentation, guided workshop focusing on the individual school PODs, and a group discussion on next steps. The evening will close with a celebratory reception. Invitations will be extended to independent schools throughout San Diego and Los Angeles. The early bird fee for each school POD is $1,600 due throughSeptember 15, 2018 or $1,800 after September 15 (registration closes November 2, 2018).
